The unrepentant callousness of the anti-vaxxer
A small corner of the online community was left aghast and saddened again today. Unfortunately, when you keep a skeptical eye on anti-vaccinationists, this is a common occurrence.
Meryl Dorey, sometimes President of the Australian Vaccination Network, outdid herself once more. She likened a family court-ordered vaccination to court-ordered child rape. I’m not kidding.
Best to let her speak for herself, eh?
Surprisingly some comments denouncing Dorey’s horrid comment were left on the AVN Facebook wall, for the time being, without feeling the force of the AVN Facebook Glitch.
Dorey finally responded to criticisms with what can only be described a Fonzie-esque notpology. If one’s Narcissism prevents the acceptance of admonishment from one’s peers, then, surely this response is absolutely logical, right?
Dorey slides down a rabbit-hole of denial, claiming that she can claim a historical precedent, made up just in the nick of time, to show that everyone else is wrong and she is right. She claims that “rape is not a sexual act” in citing the history of the medically oppressed. Dorey denies using the term “rape” in the context of a sexual act, and in her inimitable style redefines everyone’s thoughts and understanding for them.
Unfortunately for Meryl, she had conveniently forgotten that she also used the term “penetration” and “assault without consent”. She had also, not so conveniently, forgotten that Stop the AVN screenshot everything she says. Her attempted obfuscation has fallen on deaf ears. The ranks of Stop the AVN grow again, due to the words of Meryl Dorey.
Fortunately for those of us who are left a little gutted by Dorey’s remarks, we are fairly sure that the wider media is now aware of her latest descent into obscurity.
Good. The wider community needs to know what monsters lurk beneath the AVN.

I think the reason for Meryl’s opposition to vaccines is becoming clear. She has come across a doctor who does it wrong.
